10% off for second COVID vaccine users in liquor shops in Madhya Pradesh

Mandsaur: Liquor shops in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district are offering 10 per cent discount on country liquor to those who will take the second use of the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday. However, the move was criticized by an MLA of the ruling BJP, who said it would encourage people to consume alcohol. Madhya Pradesh government will organize a mega campaign on Wednesday to cover more population under its corona virus vaccination programme. Mandsaur District Excise Officer Anil Sachan said that 10 percent discount will be given on the purchase of country liquor at three shops located at Sitamau Phatak, Bhuniakhedi and Old Bus Stand. This exemption will be given to those who take the second and last dose of corona on Wednesday. ( mp government offer )

It is not right to encourage people to drink alcohol

The decision was taken to encourage people to take the second dose of the vaccine during the mega vaccination campaign, the official said. He said that if the experiment was successful, it would be implemented in other parts of the district as well. However, BJP MLA from Mandsaur Yashpal Singh Sisodia opposed the decision, saying the move was not appropriate. This is not a decision taken by the state government, and it will encourage people to consume alcohol.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had expressed concern over people not coming to take the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The state government has set a deadline of December-end to complete the vaccination of all eligible people. Earlier this month, District Excise Officer RP Kirar of neighboring Khandwa district ordered liquor shops to verbally self-certify themselves about receiving vaccinations before serving them to customers. Till November 23, a total of 8,12,79,730 anti-coronavirus vaccine doses have been given in the state. ( mp government offer )
