Abdul Samad was desperate to prove his worth in the team: Hemang Badani

Jaipur. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting coach Hemang Badani said Abdul Samad, who hit a last-ball six to win the team a thrilling win against Rajasthan Royals, was desperate to prove his worth in the team after a series of setbacks. The 21-year-old has been in the Sunrisers squad since the 2020 season but has never been able to make a useful contribution. On Sunday, however, he scored 17 off seven balls as Sunrisers chased down the target of 215. Sunrisers needed four runs off the last ball. Samad is caught by Sandeep Sharma but the ball turns out to be a no ball. After this, Samad gave his team the victory by hitting a six on the free hit.

Badani told reporters after the match, “It was a very good win for us because it has given us the momentum. We were not able to end some matches on a positive note. Especially the match against KKR where we needed nine runs in the last over. Apart from this, we should have won the match played against Delhi at home. Badani said that Abdul Samad was very disappointed after the defeat against KKR. “I would give full marks to Samad. He was the first person who came up to me after the last match and said that I should have won the team. He was not able to end the match on a positive note and was quite unhappy with it. He was thinking that the team has retained him and he should prove his worth.
