Abu Dhabi Open: Sania and Bethanie out of first round of Open

Abu Dhabi. Indian tennis stars Sania Mirza and American pair of Bethanie Mattek-Sands were defeated by Christine Flipkens of Belgium and Laura Siegemund of Germany in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Open. Sania and Mattek got 3 . 6, 4. Had to face defeat from 6. Six-time Grand Slam champion Sania is going to retire from the sport after the Dubai Tennis Championship starting on February 19.

Last month, Sania and Rohan Bopanna had finished runners-up in the Australian Open mixed doubles. They were defeated by Rafael Matos and Luisa Stefani of Brazil. That was Sania’s last match at the Grand Slam.
