President Draupadi Murmu will present the Major Dhyan Chand Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award for the year 2022 to table tennis player Achanta Sharath Kamal at a function organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan on November 30. Sharath is the only player to receive the Khel Ratna this year while 25 players will be given the Arjuna Award, including badminton players Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, women’s boxer Nikhat Zareen, athletes Aldous Paul, Avinash Sable. Prizes will be given to the winners in a special function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Jeevanjot Singh Teja (Archery), Mohammad Ali Qamar (Boxing), Suma Shirur (Para Shooting) and Sujit Mann (Wrestling) will be given the Dronacharya Award while Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s childhood coaches Dinesh Lad (Cricket), Bimal Ghosh (Football) will be given the Dronacharya Award. ) and Raj Singh (Wrestling) will receive this award in the lifetime contribution category. Ashwini Akunji (Athletics), Dharamvir Singh (Hockey), BC Suresh (Kabaddi) and Neer Mahadur Gurung (Para Athletics) will receive the Dhyan Chand Lifetime Contribution Award.
