Williamson will not play in third T20 against India, will be out of the team due to medical reasons

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will not be able to play in the third and final T20 International against India due to medical reasons. Williamson is scheduled to see a doctor. Mark Chapman has been included in the squad as Williamson’s replacement. In his absence, senior fast bowler Tim Southee will lead the team. Williamson will join the team on Wednesday when all the players assemble for the ODI series in Auckland.

The first ODI will be played at Eden Park on Friday. New Zealand coach Gary Stead said the doctor’s visit has nothing to do with his elbow problem which has resurfaced. In a statement released by New Zealand Cricket, Stead said, “Kane has been wanting to see a doctor for some time but unfortunately due to our busy schedules time has not been available.” “He said,” The health and well-being of our players and staff is a top priority. We look forward to him joining the team in Auckland.
