Archer is not bowling to his full potential right now: Matthew Mott

England limited-overs head coach Matthew Mott says fast bowler Jofra Archer is making a speedy recovery from elbow and back injuries but is yet to bowl to his full potential. Archer is currently 27 years old and has not played any match for England since March 2021. He has not played any competitive match since July 2021 due to elbow and back pain. He was supposed to make a comeback in 2021 after undergoing multiple elbow surgeries last year but just before that his back pain started.

The fast bowler is expected to play the entire 2023 season of the Indian Premier League as per reports but Mott said his workload is being closely monitored. Archer has been bought by Mumbai Indians for eight crores. Mott said he was following the doctors’ advice not to field Archer in two consecutive matches. He told Sky Sports: “No, not really. The doctors’ advice was definitely not to field him in two consecutive matches. You can see that he is trying his best to bring out his best.
