Ravichandran Ashwin, who was the hero of India’s victory in the second Test against Bangladesh in Mirpur, has hit out at those who consider him to be overthinking about the game. Opening the batting with Shreyas Iyer, Ashwin played one of his career-best innings to pull India out of trouble and seal a thrilling three-wicket win. Apart from taking six wickets in the match, he scored an unbeaten 42 in the second innings for which he was adjudged man of the match.

He said, “Every individual’s journey is special and unique. In this journey some need to think a lot and some don’t. Whenever someone says that I think too much, I have always thought about myself that I play cricket in this way and not in the way that I advise others. ‘ Lastly, I think very deeply about the game and share my thoughts because I believe that sharing thoughts can lead to greater achievements. It may not be popular but my aim is not to win the verbal battle but to learn something. Ashwin has so far taken 449 wickets in 88 Tests. The 36-year-old player has 151 wickets in ODIs and 72 wickets in T20 International cricket.
