Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan’s stance softens, matches against India can be played under this plan

The controversy that started over the Asia Cup 2023 seems to be ending now. There has also been a slight softening in the attitude of Pakistan. Pakistan has got the hosting of Asia Cup 2023. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has clearly stated that Team India will not tour Pakistan. In such a situation, questions started arising regarding the Asia Cup. However, now there has been a softening in the attitude of the Pakistan Cricket Board. For this, Pakistan is now finding a middle way. It is believed that the Pakistan Cricket Board has agreed to bow before India. Najam Sethi, the chairman of the managing committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has clearly said that we will not let the hosting of the Asia Cup go at any cost.

 

Najam Sethi clearly said that we cannot give the responsibility of organizing the tournament to anyone else. We have made preparations to conduct the Asia Cup on the basis of hybrid model. He said that it is very good if the Indian team comes to Pakistan. If it does not come, then comparisons can be made on neutral revenue. He also told that its information and complete schedule has been given to the Asian Cricket Council. The Asian Cricket Council meeting was held last month. According to the information, at least two matches between India and Pakistan can be seen in the Asia Cup. More than half of the revenue will come from these two matches. Being a neutral value, additional budget will also be required.

 

In his statement, Sethi said that we presented the hybrid model in the ACC meeting. Pakistan and India will play each other at least twice. This match generates more than half the revenue. We have calculated the additional budget and told the ACC about it. He said that if India is interested to play in Pakistan, they are welcome. If they want to play at a neutral venue, we are ready. There is no option but to host this event, otherwise, we will not play.
