Relations between India and Pakistan remain poor. Bad relationships have affected everything. Bilateral series is also not happening between the two countries. The cricket teams of India and Pakistan compete against each other in ICC tournaments. However, the dispute between the cricket boards of the two countries continues regarding the Asia Cup. Actually, this time the Asia Cup was to be held in Pakistan. But BCCI has clearly said that Team India will not tour Pakistan. BCCI has cited security regarding this. Now the statement of Pakistan’s legendary player Shahid Afridi has come to the fore. Shahid Afridi has also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a funny tone. On the occasion of Legends League Cricket (LLC) in Doha, Afridi said that I will request Modi Sahib to allow cricket between the two countries. The former Pakistan captain further claimed that India has a “very strong” cricket board. Hence the BCCI should take “more responsibility” and work towards normalizing relations between the two cricketing nations. India and Pakistan last met in the T20 World Cup 2022 and are going to face each other in the Asia Cup. But the future of the tournament hangs in the balance regarding the venue. Actually, the Indian team is not ready to go to Pakistan and the Pakistan Cricket Board is determined to host the tournament in their country.

Afridi said that the BCCI is a very strong board but it should not try to make ‘enemies’, rather focus on making ‘friends’. He said that if we want to befriend someone and he does not talk to us then what can we do? “What can we do if we want to be friends with someone and he doesn’t talk to us? When you make more friends, you become stronger.” Asked whether PCB is a ‘weak board’ Afridi said he doesn’t think so. I won’t say weak, but some answers came from the front (BCCI) as well.
