Australia vs Afghanistan Series | Australia opens front against Taliban, canceled the series played between the two countries
The Australian cricket team has decided to cancel their three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates. The reason behind the cancellation of this series is the recent Taliban’s new decree regarding women. The Taliban has stopped women’s education and banned them from getting a job. In protest against this, Australia has canceled its match series with Afghanistan to support the rights of the women of Afghanistan. The Islamic country is also angry with this decision of the Taliban. Cricket Australia has decided to cancel the series following the latest announcement by the Taliban regarding restrictions on the education and employment of women and girls. The series was scheduled to play in late March.ICC ODI Super League points were on offer in the series but now all 30 points will go to Afghanistan as CA has decided to cancel the series.

In a statement released on their official website, the cricket governing body explained why they decided to take the decision and said they remain committed to promoting the sport for men and women around the world, including in Afghanistan.CA also said that they will hold talks with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in anticipation of better conditions for women and girls in the country. He also thanked the Australian Government for its support in this matter.

CA is committed to supporting the growing sport for women and men around the world, including in Afghanistan, and will continue to engage with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in anticipation of better conditions for women and girls in the country, the CA statement read.We thank the Australian Government for their support on this matter.
ICC CEO Geoff Allardyce admitted that recent developments in Afghanistan were worrying and the matter would be considered at the board’s next meeting in March.Allardyce saidOur Board has been monitoring the progress since the regime change.It is a matter of concern that progress is not being made in Afghanistan and it is something our Board will consider at its next meeting in March. As far as we know, there is currently no activity.
Afghanistan is the only ICC Full Member nation without a women’s team and will be the only Full Member not to feature in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup starting on Saturday.
