Bairstow out of IPL, Livingstone cleared

England’s explosive batsman Jonny Bairstow, who is recovering from a foot injury, will not be able to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year due to non-objection certificate (NOC) from his country’s cricket board. IPL is starting from 31 March. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), however, has allowed all-rounder Liam Livingstone to play in this T20 tournament after recovering from knee and ankle injuries.

Punjab Kings bought Livingstone and Bairstow for Rs 11.50 crore and Rs 6.75 crore respectively during the IPL auction. As per Cricbuzz report, “There is some good and some bad news for Punjab Kings as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has given the green signal to Liam Livingstone to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). But Johnny Bairstow has been barred from participating in this competition. They have not given NOC to Bairstow. Bairstow missed the T20 World Cup and the Test tour of Pakistan and New Zealand in September due to multiple fractures sustained after slipping on a golf course.
