Bangladesh beat Ireland by 10 wickets to win ODI series

Pacer Hasan Mahmood took a maiden five-wicket haul as Bangladesh thrashed Ireland by 10 wickets in the third and final ODI to seal a 2-0 One-Day International series win here on Thursday. Bangladesh registered their biggest win in ODIs by defeating the first match by 183 runs and the second match was rained off. This is the first time that Bangladesh has defeated any team by 10 wickets. The sky was overcast and Ireland won the toss and elected to bat but the entire team was bundled out for just 101 runs in 28.1 overs.

Bangladesh’s fast bowlers took all 10 wickets for the first time in their history. Hassan took five wickets for 32 runs, while Taskin Ahmed took three wickets for 26 runs and Ibadat Hossain took two wickets for 29 runs. The hosts achieved this target in just 13.1 overs by scoring 102 runs without losing a wicket. Liton Das scored an unbeaten 50 off 38 balls and hit 10 fours for his ninth half-century. Captain Tamim Iqbal took the team to victory by taking one run, he scored as many runs in 41 balls, in which five fours and two sixes were hit.

Only two of Ireland’s batsmen reached double figures. Curtis Campher scored a team-best 36 while Lorcan Tucker contributed 28 runs. Hassan rattled Ireland’s top order with some brilliant bowling. Ireland’s team’s score was 22 for three in the ninth over after which Taskin Ahmed took wickets. Taskin dismissed captain Andrew Balbirnie. Then Ibadat ended Tucker’s innings. Hasan sent Campher to the pavilion in his second spell. Hasan finished Ireland’s innings with his five wickets.
