Bangladesh team became helpless in front of Ishaan Kishan’s stormy innings, losing the series also won hearts
In the last match of the three ODIs between India and Bangladesh, the Indian team won the match by 227 runs, performing strongly. Bangladesh team was all out for 182 runs. Although the team could not capture the series, but in the third ODI, Ishaan Kishan and Virat Kohli’s fast batting won the hearts of the fans.
In the third ODI against Bangladesh, the Indian team batting first gave a target of 410 runs to Bangladesh. This match proved to be very spectacular for the Indian players. The first wicket of the Bangladesh team fell in the form of Anamul Haque. He became the victim of Akshar Patel by scoring eight runs. Mohammad Siraj made captain Liton Das walk on the score of 29 runs. After this the Bangladesh team could not stand. Mushfiqur Rahim was clean bowled and sent to the pavilion. After this, the wickets of the team kept falling continuously.
Indian batsmen played a blistering innings
Opener Ishan Kishan batted fearlessly and scored the fastest double century in ODI cricket, sharing a 290-run partnership for the second wicket in 190 balls with Virat Kohli. The Indian team could only manage 409 runs after losing eight wickets. In this innings, Ishaan Kishan scored 210 runs in 131 balls with the help of 24 fours and 10 sixes. In front of his aggressive batting, former captain Kohli’s innings of 113 runs in 91 balls studded with 11 fours and two sixes looked pale.
Ishan completed his double century in 126 balls, which is the fastest double century in this format. Earlier this record in men’s cricket was in the name of Chris Gayle. He scored a 138-ball double century against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup. Ishan also became the youngest batsman to score a double century in the ODI format. He completed his double century at the age of 24 years and 145 days. Earlier this record was in the name of Rohit Sharma who scored his first double century (against Australia in 2013) at the age of 26 years and 186 days. This is India’s fourth highest score in ODIs.
After the dismissals of Kishan and Kohli, wickets kept falling at regular intervals and the team could manage only 70 runs in the last 10 overs. Kishan batted in T20 style after scoring his first century of ODI format in 85 balls and showered fours and sixes. He scored 156 runs in his innings only with boundaries. This Jharkhand batsman is India’s fourth and overall seventh batsman to score a double century in ODIs. He completed his double century by taking a single off the last ball of the 35th over against Mustafizur Rahman.
He became the only batsman to convert his first ODI century into a double century. Kohli also looked in his colors from the other end. This was his 44th century in ODIs which took his total number of centuries to 72. Kohli scored a century in this format after almost three years. The way he hit a difficult six against Haris Rauf in the T20 World Cup, he completed his century in 86 balls by taking Ibadat Hussain’s ball to the audience. He has become the second player to score the most centuries in international cricket after Sachin Tendulkar (100 centuries).
Having lost both the opening matches of the three-match series, the Indian team brought in Kishan in place of injured skipper Rohit Sharma and the batsman opened the innings along with Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan and his partnership lasted only 4.1 overs. Mehdi Hasan got Dhawan lbw for three runs. On the ball of this off-spinner, captain Liton Das gave life by dropping Kohli’s catch. After this, Kishan and Kohli easily scored runs on all sides of the ground.
Both were focusing more on hitting boundaries instead of stealing runs. Kohli also joined in the celebration of Kishan’s double century. He shared the joy with the young batsman by performing Bhangra on the field. After both of them returned to the pavilion, the Indian innings started to falter and this affected the run rate. Washington Sundar played an inning of 37 runs in 27 balls to help the team score beyond 400.
