Bangladesh won the series by defeating Ireland in the second T20

Bangladesh beat Ireland by 77 runs in the second T20 International here on Wednesday to take a 2-0 winning lead in the three-match series. Opener Liton Das hit 83 off 41 balls with 10 fours and three sixes while skipper Shakib Al Hasan took five for 22 in the match which was reduced to 17 overs due to rain. Liton completed his half-century in just 18 balls, which is the fastest T20 International half-century by a Bangladeshi batsman.

He went past Mohammad Ashraful, who scored a 20-ball fifty in the T20 World Cup against West Indies in 2007. Bangladesh scored 202 runs for three wickets with Liton’s innings. He shared a 124-run partnership for the first wicket with Ronnie Talukdar (44). Captain Shakib also scored an unbeaten 38 runs. In response to this, in front of Shakib’s excellent bowling, Ireland’s team could only score 125 runs for nine wickets. The team had lost six wickets for 43 runs only. Coming in to bat at number seven, Curtis Campher top-scored with 50 off 30 balls, hitting three sixes and as many fours. Taskin Ahmed also took three wickets for 27 runs.
