IPL 2022: BCCI may shift IPL mega auction in view of rising cases of Corona, know when the team will be selected

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is facing a new hurdle in organizing the mega auction for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. The rising COVID-19 cases in India as well as the new restrictions imposed by the Karnataka government mean that Bengaluru is still under scrutiny as the venue for the IPL 2022 mega auction. The BCCI may have to move the mega auction if they cannot secure a venue that follows all the COVID-19 guidelines in Bengaluru. As a result, auction dates may also have to be changed. On Tuesday, January 4, the BCCI suspended all domestic competitions, including the Ranji Trophy. ( IPL auction 2022 )

Auction was to be held on 12 and 13

While the BCCI has scheduled February 12 and 13 for the auction in Bengaluru, the Indian board is yet to book the hotels. According to the InsideSport website, the two hotels that the BCCI was looking at have asked the board to wait for a few days as the Karnataka government is about to issue fresh COVID-19 restrictions. The restrictions are expected to include a cap on gatherings preventing the BCCI from hosting the auction. A senior BCCI official told InsideSport website that some things are out of our hands and we should wait. If we have any information about restrictions then there will be no problem with booking and baggage. We are monitoring the situation closely and in talks with the state associations. If we need to relocate the venue, it can be done at short notice.

Karnataka government may impose restrictions till 6 January

Currently, the Sheraton Grand in Whitefield, Bengaluru is booked for the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 2022). The rest of the hotels are carefully awaiting the new restrictions. With the new restrictions the Karnataka government is going to impose by Thursday, January 6, it may put the auction in jeopardy. The BCCI had already put Kolkata, Kochi and Mumbai on standby due to COVID-19. However, all three cities are currently seeing a surge in cases, while Kolkata, Mumbai and Kochi have all imposed new restrictions. It is also possible that the Indian board may have to change the dates for holding the two-day auction from February 12 and 13.

Times Live quoted him as saying that I still believe that I have a role in SA Cricket and IPL with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Apart from scoring 20,017 international runs across all formats under his belt, de Villiers also holds the record for the fastest 50, 100 and 150 in ODIs. De Villiers retired from international cricket in 2018 (IPL auction 2022)

No one knows about it and hopefully I can one day in the future look back and see that I have made a big difference in the lives of some players. That’s my focus for now and I don’t know if it will be professional or on a casual basis, but we’ll see where we go with it. De Villiers announced his retirement from international cricket in 2018. AB opened up about the personal challenges he faced over the years with the COVID-19 pandemic. After going to the IPL twice last year, where we faced a lot of travel restrictions, COVID-19 Testing, missed and canceled flights had to be dealt with, and it was very challenging to organize school for the kids. I have decided over the years that I am not going to travel without my kids and the two phases of the IPL have really made it very complicated. Perhaps the biggest challenge was staying alert, staying motivated and maintaining energy. I also got COVID-19 at some point and I was really sick for 10 to 12 days and luckily I recovered from it. Those were the challenges and the basic stresses of life and the pandemic floating around. IPL was suspended in 2020 after several COVID cases were detected inside the bio-bubble in India. It was completed later in the year after it was moved to the United Arab Emirates. De Villiers said that for a long time, travel arrangements and IPL have been the biggest challenge this year and it was difficult to find that energy to become the best in the world.
