Batting experiment backfired, Harmanpreet spoke on India’s defeat against Pakistan

Sylhet. Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur on Friday blamed the change in the batting order for the Asia Cup loss to Pakistan, saying the decision to give proper practice to the batsmen ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup backfired. In reply to the target of 138 runs against arch-rivals Pakistan, the Indian team could only score 124 runs.

Harmanpreet said after the match, “This target could have been achieved. We could not take singles in the middle overs or rotate the strike. We played a lot of dot balls.” Harmanpreet had come to bat at number seven in this match. He said, “We thought that the other batsmen should be given a chance. This decision backfired and was the reason for our defeat.” India defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in July.

On the other hand, Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof, who returned to the winning path after suffering an unexpected defeat to Thailand in the first match, said, “It was an important match for us. We executed our strategy well and took risks wisely.
