New Delhi. The 16th season of the Indian Premier League has ended successfully, with Chennai Super Kings becoming the champions. Team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who played an important role in making Chennai the champion, is currently admitted in a hospital in Mumbai. Fans are very worried these days about his fitness.
In fact, former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had a problem in his left knee, which underwent a successful operation on Thursday at a hospital in Mumbai. There is also a possibility that Mahendra Singh Dhoni may return to the field soon. With this, the possibility of Mahendra Singh Dhoni playing in the next season of the Indian Premier League has become stronger. Dhoni, who won the fifth IPL title to Chennai Super Kings, reached Mumbai directly from Ahmedabad after the final on Monday.
He consulted renowned sports orthopedic surgeon Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, who is also on the BCCI medical panel. He has performed surgery on many Indian cricketers including Rishabh Pant. CSK CEO Kashi Vishwanath said, “Dhoni’s knee has been successfully operated at Kokilaben Hospital. He is fine and the operation was done in the morning itself. I do not have detailed information. I am yet to get the details.” It is learned that Dhoni has been discharged from the hospital.
A source close to the CSK management said on condition of anonymity, “He has already been discharged from the hospital and has flown to Ranchi. He will rest at home for a few days before starting his rehabilitation. Hopefully he will have enough time to get fit before the next IPL. Dhoni played the entire season with a bandage on his left knee. He looked decent when keeping wickets, but usually batted at number eight and did not seem to be in rhythm when running between the wickets.
After the IPL final, Dhoni had said, “Looking at the circumstances, this is the best time for me to retire.” It is very easy for me to say that I am leaving now but it is difficult to come back after working hard for the next nine months and play one more season. The way the Chennai fans have showered me with love, it will be my gift to them that I play one more season. I should also do something for the love and passion they have shown.
