Former JD(U) president Sharad Yadav passes away; Prime Minister and other leaders expressed grief

New Delhi. Senior leader and former president of Janata Dal (United) Sharad Yadav passed away at a private hospital in Gurugram on Thursday. His family members gave this information. Yadav was 75 years old. Former Union Minister Yadav is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son. A statement from the Fortis Memorial Research Institute said Yadav was brought to the emergency ward in an unconscious state. The statement said, “During the health check-up, his pulse was not running or blood pressure was not recorded. All attempts at treatment failed. He was declared brought dead at 10.19 pm. Yadav’s aides said he fainted at his Chhatarpur residence on Thursday night and was rushed to Fortis Hospital in Gurugram, but could not be saved.

Yadav was suffering from kidney ailment for a long time and used to undergo ‘dialysis’ regularly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Yadav. In a tweet, Modi said, “Saddened by the demise of Sharad Yadav. In his long years in public life, he distinguished himself as a parliamentarian and minister. He was greatly inspired by the ideals of Dr. Lohia. I will always cherish our conversation. My condolences to his family and fans. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also expressed grief over the demise of Sharad Yadav and expressed condolences to his family. Kharge tweeted, “Saddened by the demise of former JD(U) President Sharad Yadav, senior socialist leader of the country.” But by doing the work of serving the country, he strengthened the politics of equality.

Condoling the demise of Sharad Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad said that bitterness never arose despite their mutual differences. Prasad released a video statement from his hospital bed in Singapore. He is currently recuperating after kidney transplant surgery. Describing Sharad Yadav as an elder brother, Prasad recalled his old association with the late leader. The RJD chief said, “On many occasions, Sharad Yadav and I fought with each other. But our disagreement never became a cause of bitterness. West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee condoled the death of Sharad Yadav and said that his legacy will live on.

Banerjee tweeted, “It is very sad to hear the news of Sharad Yadav’s demise. A towering statesman and highly respected colleague, his legacy will live on. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav also expressed grief over the demise of Sharad Yadav. He tweeted, “I am saddened by the news of the untimely demise of Mandal Messiah, senior leader, great socialist leader, my guardian respected Sharad Yadav ji. I am unable to say anything. ”RJD leader Tejashwi said that he talked to the family members of Sharad Yadav. Yadav said, “In this hour of grief, the entire Samajwadi family is with his family members.”
