Bonzi upsets by defeating Zandshalp, in the final of ATP Tour for the first time

French Benjamin Bonzy pulled off a massive upset by defeating world 35th-ranked Bottich van de Gendschelp in a three-set semi-final clash at the Tata Open Maharashtra here on Friday. With this win, he reached the final of an ATP World Tour level tournament for the first time. Ranked 60 in the world, Bonji defeated the second seed 7-6 6-7 6-1. The 26-year-old Bonzi took the opening set after a hard-fought four-match set but Gendschalp came back strongly and won the next set in a tie-breaker to take the match to a decider.

In the deciding set, Bonzi completely dominated and sealed a place in the final with a 6-1 victory. With this victory, he ended the possibility of a final match between the two players of the Netherlands. In the final, Bonzi will face the challenge of Tallion Grekspoor of the Netherlands. In the first semi-final of the day, Grekspor, ranked 95th, defeated eighth seed Aslan Karatsev of Russia 7-6 6-1.
