Boxers Suvidha Bhagat and Radha Patidar in pre quarterfinals

Boxers Suvidha Bhagat of Punjab and Radha Patidar of Madhya Pradesh produced impressive performances to enter the pre-quarterfinals of the 6th Elite Women’s National Boxing Championship here on Wednesday. Suvidha defeated Jharkhand’s Chandu 5-0 in the 48kg category, while local boxer Radha easily defeated Himachal Pradesh’s Ritu by the same margin in the 52kg category. Punjab’s Komal (50kg) also made it to the next round after defeating Chhattisgarh’s P Tanuja in the RSC.

Reigning world champion Nikhat Zareen will step into the ring on Thursday as she will face Meghalaya’s Eva Marbaniang in the 50kg pre-quarterfinals. Representing Assam, Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) will take on Odisha’s Pooja Nayak in the round of 16 on Friday. Monika Malik (48kg), Rajni Singh (48kg), Isha Thakur (50kg), Kampi Boro (50kg), Hetal Dama (52kg) and Gayatri Kasnyal (54kg) also won their bouts on Wednesday.
