Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals of the Fritz Indians Wells tournament

Indian Wells. Coco Gauff came back from a break down in the third set to beat qualifier Rebecca Pettersen of Sweden to reach the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament here on Tuesday. Gauff came back from being down 2–4 in the third and deciding set, saving three break points at 4–4, and then serving in the next game. He won 6-3, 1-6, 6-4. Four years ago, Rebecca beat the then 14-year-old Gauff at a Challenger tournament in Michigan.

Sixth-seeded American Gauff will next face second-seeded Arina Sabalenka, who beat 16th seed Barbara Kreiskova 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. In other fourth round matches, seventh seed Maria Sakari defeated 17th seed Karolina Pliskova 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. In the men’s section, defending champion Taylor Fritz defeated Marton Fucsovics 6-4, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals. Number five Daniil Medvedev beat 12th seed Alexander Zverev 6-7, 7-6, 7-5, while 10th seed Cameron Nori beat sixth seed Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-4.
