Zimbabwe Cricket President Tawengwa Mukuhlani is likely to challenge Greg Barkley in next week’s election to the post of ICC chairman in Melbourne. Mukuhlani has been on the board of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a long time. He is called by the name ‘Doc’ since his university days. According to reports, he is looking at options to see if he gets enough support from ICC’s full-time member countries and associate countries.

There are a total of 16 members on the board of the ICC. Of these, 12 members are from full-time countries, one independent director (Indra Nooyi) and three associate countries. According to the new rules, not two-thirds but a simple majority will be needed to decide the new chairman of the ICC. “Mukuhlani believes he has enough experience to hold the top position and wants to be the voice of smaller member states and associate countries,” ESPNcricinfo reported.
