Captain Smriti Mandhana praised the players, told the victory after the defeat against Pak was a great comeback

Sylhet. Indian women’s team’s caretaker captain Smriti Mandhana praised her players after their 59-run win over Bangladesh in the Women’s Asia Cup, terming it a “great comeback” 24 hours after their defeat against Pakistan. India have won four out of five matches and have secured their place in the semi-finals of this continental competition. Mandhana said after the match that the last match (against Pakistan) was disappointing. The comeback after that loss was good. I am really proud of the girls. Today the team performed well.

Mandhana herself scored 47 off 38 balls but she praised the young Shefali Verma (55) and the talented Jemima Rodrigues (35 not out). He said that Shefali batted brilliantly and Jemima also played well. We could have scored 10 more runs batting. We kept bowling empty balls and we were waiting for their batsmen to make mistakes and they made mistakes. Our bowlers bowled really well.

Shefali, who was adjudged the best player of the match, also showed excellence in bowling and took two wickets for 10 runs, which is the best performance of her career. He admitted that playing strokes on the pitch was not easy. Shefali said that I am always ready to give my best in batting and bowling. It was a bit difficult pitch to bat on as the ball was staying down. I worked hard and I thank my family and friends for their support.

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana attributed the defeat to poor performances while bowling and in the power play. “We didn’t bowl well in the powerplay. We did a lot of loose balls. We could not score more runs in the powerplay even with the bat. Our main bowlers did not bowl according to the strategy.
