Champions League: AC Milan beat Sampdoria 5-1 with Girod’s hat-trick

Olivier Giroud scored his first hat-trick in Serie A, while Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz also scored. Fabio Quagliarella scored the only goal for Sampdoria. With this win, AC Milan’s team is just one point behind fourth-placed Lazio and two points behind third-placed Inter Milan.

The top four teams will make it to the Champions League. There are still two rounds of games left in the league. AC Milan had earlier suffered a defeat against Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-finals. Atalanta’s hopes of qualifying for the European league are also alive. The team defeated relegation-threatened Hellas Verona 3–1. The team is in sixth place, three points behind AC Milan. Cremonese’s relegation to a lower league is almost certain. The team was defeated 5–1 by Bologna.
