Change in pitch rating of Indore’s Holkar Stadium gave us justice: MPCA

After the International Cricket Council (ICC) changed the pitch rating of the Holkar Stadium in Indore (the venue of the third Test match between India and Australia) from “poor” to “below average”, the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) Expressed happiness on Monday. The MPCA said that the ICC’s decision on the appeal of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has done justice to the state cricket body.

MPCA President Abhilash Khandekar told “PTI-Bhasha”, “We are very happy with the ICC’s decision to change the pitch rating of Holkar Stadium and there has been a wave of happiness among the cricket fans of the state as well.” We have definitely got justice from this decision.” According to Khandekar, this decision of the ICC means that the series of international cricket matches in Indore can now be restored without any hindrance.

It is worth mentioning that Australia defeated the host India by nine wickets on the third day of the Test match in Indore and confirmed the place in the final of the World Test Championship and the pitch of Holkar Stadium proved to be the graveyard of the batsmen due to the deadly attack of spin bowlers. The ICC Appeals Panel reviewed match referee Chris Broad’s decision and found that the pitch did not have enough variable bounce to warrant a poor rating. The pitch was initially given three “demerit” points, but when the rating was changed from “poor” to “below average”, the pitch would only get one demerit point.
