Murali Vijay Announces Retirement | Veteran batsman Murali Vijay retires from all forms of international cricket
India’s veteran batsman Murali Vijay said goodbye to his international career at the age of 38. The Tamil Nadu legend announced his decision through a statement on Twitter on Monday, January 30.Vijay, once India’s regular Test opener, was dropped from the team due to poor innings in the 2018 season. After scoring just one Test century against Afghanistan in Bangalore, the Indian team management decided to drop Vijay after the second Test in Australia.

One of the most stylish batsmen in the opening slot, Vijay scored 12 Test hundreds and 15 half-centuries in 61 Test matches. He scored 3982 runs at an average of 38.28. The Tamil Nadu player also made a mark in the Indian Premier League playing for the Chennai Super Kings. The opener scored two centuries in the IPL and scored a total of 2619 runs in 106 matches at a strike rate of 121.87.

Vijay also thanked the Indian board, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, coaches and fans.
