Chhaya daughters shine in U19 T20 World Cup, creating history and winning the title by defeating England

The Indian women’s team has won the title after a strong performance in the final match of the U19 T20 World Cup 2023. With this victory, Shefali Brigade has created history. Performing brilliantly in the final match, the Indian team won easily by seven wickets. India defeated England by achieving the target in the inaugural match of the tournament. With this, India has become the first country to win the U19 T20 Women’s World Cup 2023.

Let us tell you that while bowling first, the Indian team did not allow the English batsmen to survive. England batsmen could not stay on the crease in this match played in Potchefstroom, South Africa. From the beginning of the innings, the English batsmen could not stand in front of the Indian bowlers and kept losing their wickets continuously. Due to the brilliant game of India’s daughters, the England team could score just 68 runs after batting first and gave the target of 69 runs to the Indian team. T. Sadhu, Parshvi Chopra and Archana Devi took two wickets each for the Indian team.

Titas Sadhu was the most successful bowler for India. He took two wickets for six runs in four overs. Archana Devi (17 runs in three overs) and Parshvi Chopra (13 runs in four overs) also took two wickets each. Mannat Kashyap (1/13), skipper Shefali Verma (1/16) and Sonam Yadav (1/3) were also among the wicket-keepers.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Titas got India off to a flying start by dismissing England opener Liberty Heap in the first over itself. Heap returned by giving a simple catch to Titas without opening the account. Foundation Holland hit off-spinner Archana for a four in the second over but the bowler made a stunning comeback by taking two wickets in the fourth over of the innings. Captain Grace Scrivens was walked after Archana bowled Holland. Holland scored 10 while opener Scrivens contributed four runs. In the fifth over of the match, wicket-keeper Richa Ghosh dropped the catch of Ryan McDonald-Gray off the bowling of Titas. England’s score in the power play was 22 for three.

Shefali’s fourth consecutive over from Titas was beneficial. This fast bowler bowled Seren Smale for three runs in the seventh over. McDonald-Gay took advantage of the lifeline to hit leg-spinner Parshvi in ​​the eighth over and Mannat in the ninth. Parshvi removed Sharis Paveli (two runs) in the 10th over and McDonald-Gray in the 12th over to seal the deal for England. Archana dived into the cover region and took a brilliant one-handed catch to end McDonald-Gay’s 24-ball 19.

England had lost six wickets before the completion of 50 runs.
