Chikkarangappa won the season-ending Tata Steel Tour Championship title

Golfer S Chikkarangappa carded a three-under 69 in the fourth round of the Tata Steel Tour Championship, the last tournament of the PGTI season, to clinch the title here on Saturday. Gurugram’s Manu Gandas became the 2022 PGTI Ranking (Order of Merit) champion by finishing joint sixth in the event. Chikkarangappa (66-71-62-69) shot a total of 20-under 268 to win by two shots. It was the 15th PGTI title and 16th professional title for the 29-year-old from Bengaluru.

The trio of international star Shiv Kapur (64-69-70-67), Delhi’s Shamim Khan (71-67-67-65) and Gurugram’s Veer Ahlawat (67-71-67-65) finished with scores of 18-under 270. tied for second place with Manu (66-68-68-70) shot a total of 16-under 272 in the Rs 3 crore prize money event. Manu made a record earning of Rs 88,50,688 for the 2022 season. This is the highest ever earning for a PGTI session.

He broke the previous record of Rs 66,27,650 for a season’s earnings made by Rashid Khan in 2019. Other prominent players included Jyoti Randhawa tied-10th at 14-under 274, SSP Chaurasia tied-16th at 12-under 276, Gaganjeet Bhullar tied-22nd at 10-under 278, Udayan Mane tied-34th at five-under 283 and Jeev Milkha Singh finished tied-58 with a three-over 291.
