Administrator appointed to oversee use of funds for hosting Shooting World Cup

The Delhi High Court has appointed retired Supreme Court judge AK Sikri as administrator to oversee the utilization of funds for the ISSF Shooting World Cup to be held in India in March this year. The court also allowed the Center to release funds to the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) for organizing the event. The High Court was hearing a petition seeking modification of the NRAI’s June 2022 order.

The court had then directed that no funds or assistance would be provided to National Sports Federations (NSFs) that do not follow the National Sports Code. The NRAI had sought the release of funds citing the Shooting World Cup to be held in March 2023. Disposing of the petition, the High Court said, “If there is any kind of hindrance in organizing the World Cup, it will affect the prestige of the country. Funds will be required from the central government for organizing this competition.

“Justice (Retd) Arjan Kumar Sikri, former judge of the Supreme Court, has been appointed as the administrator to oversee the utilization of funds for organizing the Shooting World Cup to be held in March 2023,” the court said. He can take the help of any player who has been a national or international level shooter for his work.
