Cricketer Mohammed Shami was called anti-Islamic by fanatics, what anti-religious mistake did the bowler make?

The Hindu festival ‘Dussehra’ representing the victory of truth over evil was celebrated with great grandeur and devotion throughout the country. India is a country where people of every religion, community, caste speak different languages. Here everyone celebrates Eid and Dussehra together. For a long time, efforts are being made to disturb the peace and unity of the country through social media. People are trolled on their expressions. Recently, one such example came to light when the fast bowler of the Indian cricket team, Mohammed Shami, wished all his fans a Happy Dussehra through social media. Cricketer Mohammed Shami shared an animation picture of Lord Rama shooting an arrow at Ravana on his social media account and wrote – Happy Dussehra to all. However, Islamists did not like Mohammed Shami doing this and they trolled Shami a lot for celebrating Hindu festivals. The fundamentalists accused Shami of going against his religion because of his career.

On Wednesday, Mohammed Shami shared a picture of Lord Rama killing Ravana and wished people a Happy Dussehra. He tweeted, “On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, I pray that Lord Ram fills your life with lots of prosperity, success and happiness. Wishing you and your family a very Happy Dussehra”.

Islamist netizens did not like the post shared by Shami and trolled him for going against his religion. Radical netizens also told him about Islam and indicated that it was a sin for Muslims to share greetings on Dussehra. A Twitter user named Akeel Bhatti commented on Shami’s post and said, ‘Shame on you Shami. Are you a Muslim?”.

Shami has not been a part of the Indian cricket team for a long time and is in discussion between the T20 World Cup. The Indian cricket team selectors are looking to replace pacer Jasprit Bumrah with Mohammed Shami for this mega-tournament, provided Shami has fully recovered from the effects of COVID-19. Bumrah has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup in Australia due to a stress fracture and it may take several months for him to recover.
Reprimanding the cricketer, on 5 September one of the women Islamists asked whether a Hindu cricketer had previously wished on an Islamic occasion or a Christian occasion. You should be ashamed Are you a believer of Lord Rama?”
