Dale Steyn praised Suryakumar Yadav, said Suryakumar can become the de Villiers of India

Former South African pacer Dale Steyn believes Suryakumar Yadav will love the fast and bouncy tracks in Australia and can play a key role for the Indian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Suryakumar has continued his form on Australian soil after scoring three consecutive half-centuries in the bilateral series against Australia. He played a brilliant innings of 53 off 35 balls in India’s 13-run win against West Australia here on Monday. Steyn said on Star Sports’ program Cricket Live, “He is an amazing player capable of hitting shots all around the field and reminds me of AB de Villiers. He could be India’s AB de Villiers and given the kind of form he is in right now, his eyes will definitely be on him in the World Cup.

Steyn said the conditions in Australia are conducive to Suryakumar’s game so that he can shine in the World Cup. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will play an official warm-up match against Australia in Brisbane on October 17. She will play the first match of the tournament against Pakistan on 23 October. Steyn said, “He is the kind of player who likes to use the pace of the ball. Perth, Melbourne and all the grounds there will have a little extra speed, so you can use that. You can play it in the finale, behind the wicket and can also hit straight. Suryakumar is also a very good player of the back foot.

“His backfoot cover drives are superb and he plays cover drives on the front foot beautifully as well. So he is an all-round player and the wickets in Australia will be favorable for batting.
