Delhi beat Sikkim by 10 wickets to keep knockout hopes alive

Irregular spinners Lalit Yadav and Nitish Rana took six wickets between themselves as Delhi kept alive their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a 10-wicket win over Sikkim here on Saturday. Delhi have kept their hopes alive with two consecutive wins. Delhi chased down the target in just 9.2 overs after bowling out Sikkim for 76 in 34.4 overs. Delhi won the toss and elected to bowl, after which Rana took three wickets for 12 runs in six overs while Yadav took three wickets for 12 runs in eight overs.

Regular off-spinner Shivang Vashisht took one wicket for 16 runs in six overs. Eight out of 11 Sikkim batsmen failed to cross the five-run mark. Pankaj Rawat contributed the maximum 32 runs. Chasing the target, Dhruv Shorey scored 43 not out in 28 balls and all-rounder Kunwar Bidhuri scored 33 not out in 28 balls to give the team victory. This is Delhi’s third win in five matches and the team is fourth in the group table with 12 points. Assam, Karnataka and Jharkhand have the same 16-16 points. In other group matches, Jharkhand beat Meghalaya by 192 runs, Rajasthan beat Vidarbha by six wickets. Assam upset Karnataka by six wickets.
