13 fours and nine sixes in his century innings, Mumbai beat Assam

Opener Prithvi Shaw, who was disappointed at being left out of the squad for the recent ODI series against South Africa, played a blistering 61-ball 134 as Mumbai beat Assam by 61 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament here on Friday. . In this Group A match, after being invited to bat first, Mumbai bundled out Assam’s innings for 169 runs in 19.3 overs after scoring 230 for three. Shaw hit 13 fours and nine sixes in his innings in the match played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium.

He shared a 114-run partnership for the third wicket with Yashasvi Jaiswal (42 off 30 balls). He completed his half-century in just 19 balls and then his hundred in 46 balls. Shaw had earlier scored 29 not out against Madhya Pradesh and 55 not out against Mizoram. The 22-year-old had last represented the national team against Sri Lanka in July 2021.

Chasing the target, Razzakuddin Ahmed scored 39 runs in 26 balls for Assam. Riyan Parag, who played for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, scored 28 runs in 10 balls. For Mumbai, Tushar Pandey took three wickets for 25 runs while Shams Mulani, Aman Hakim Khan and Tanush Kotian took two wickets each. In the other group match, Uttarakhand beat Madhya Pradesh by 50 runs. After making 194 for two wickets, Uttarakhand was bundled out for 144 in Madhya Pradesh’s innings.
