Six-time Asian medalist Shiva Thapa (63.5kg) stormed into the final of the National Men’s Boxing Championships with a 5-0 win over 2019 World Championships bronze medalist Manish Kaushik, here on Thursday. Thapa will face 2019 World Youth Championships silver medalist Ankit Narwal in the final. 2021 Asian champion Sanjeet (92kg), representing SSCB, registered a comfortable win over Himachal Pradesh’s Ashish Bhandor after the referee stopped the contest in the second round to book his place in the final.

Sanjeet’s SSCB teammates Asian Championships bronze medalist Sumit (75kg) and Narendra (+92kg) registered 5-0 wins in their semi-final bouts. Sumit defeated Tinderpal Singh of Punjab while Narendra defeated Jaipal Singh of Punjab to enter the finals. Abhinash Jamwal of Machhal Pradesh defeated Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Rohit Tokas of RSPB in the semi-finals of 67kg. They will face Akash of SSCB in the final.

Two-time Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Mohd Hussamuddin of SSCB won by unanimous decision against Himachal Pradesh’s Ashish Kumar. He will take on Sachin of RSPB in the final of 57kg category. The RSPB pair of Govind Sahni (48kg) and Varinder Singh (60kg) defeated Neeraj Swami of Delhi and Suni Chauhan of Uttar Pradesh by identical 5-0 margins respectively to enter the finals.
