Swimming: Gujarat’s Aryan Nehra creates another national record

Hyderabad. Asian Games-ready swimmer Aryan Nehra set a new national record on Monday to win gold in the men’s 800m freestyle event at the National Swimming Championships here. Aryan clocked 8:01.81 to clock the Asian Games qualifying standard for the second time this year. Like in Sunday’s 400m freestyle event, Aryan once again outclassed national record holder Kushagra Rawat of Delhi.

Rawat clocked 8:09.25 to win the silver medal, while Karnataka’s Anish Gowda (8:16.92) came third. Aryan had booked his place in the Asian Games by clocking a personal best of 8:03.15 in the 800m freestyle at an event in Chicago in April.
