English Premier League: Liverpool lost to Brentford due to poor defense

London. Liverpool fell behind in the race for a top-four finish in the English Premier League (EPL) football tournament with a 1-3 defeat against Brentford. Liverpool had to bear the brunt of a poor defence, which saw manager Juergen Klopp replace key defender Virgil at half-time. Brentford took the lead in the 19th minute through an own goal from Ibrahim Conte and then made it 2–0 in the 42nd minute through Yoanne Visa.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gave Liverpool hope after the break when he scored in the 50th minute. However, Brian Mbumo scored another in the 84th minute to seal a 3–1 win for Brentford. After this defeat, Liverpool’s team is in sixth place with 28 points in 17 matches. Brentford has 26 points from 18 matches and the team is at the seventh position.
