Chandigarh. Farmers’ organizations preparing to contest the assembly elections in Punjab have intensified their preparations. Organizations preparing to contest different elections can come together. For this a coordination committee has been formed. Balbir Singh Rajewal-led United Samaj Morcha and Gurnam Singh Chaduni, who is still preparing to contest separate elections, have formed a coordination committee. This committee will work to bring all the farmer organizations together. Along with this, such farmer organizations who are involved in the United Kisan Morcha, which are currently away from politics, will also be coordinated with them.
In the meeting of farmers held at Kisan Bhawan, Chandigarh, it was decided to form a committee by consensus. In the meeting held at Kisan Bhawan under the leadership of Balvir Singh Rajewal and Gurnam Singh Chaduni, it was agreed that the allocation of tickets to both the factions would be done with the help of coordination committee. Samyukta Samaj Morcha chief Balbir Singh Rajewal briefed the journalists about the decisions taken in the meeting. The farmer leaders have also made it clear that they will not align with the Aam Aadmi Party.
Rajewal said that three committees have been formed for the distribution of tickets, manifesto etc. for the assembly elections. It is everyone’s democratic right to apply for tickets. Rajewal said that a scrutiny committee has been formed to weed out the good candidates from the applications. Kuldeep Singh Wajidpur, Kripa Singh, Mukesh Sharma, Manjit Singh, Raju and Kulwant Singh Sandhu have been kept in this.
The farmers also constituted a parliamentary board by consensus, in which Manjit Singh Rai, Prem Singh Bhangu, Bodh Singh, KS Sekhon, Harminder Singh Gill, Raju, Ruldu Singh Mansa have been kept. In the manifesto committee, Kanwal Sartaj Singh, former IAS Khushi Ram, Amitoj Mann, Deepak Chanarthal and Hamir Singh are members. Rajewal told that the headquarters of the party will be in Ludhiana only. He said about Chadhuni that all are members of one family and if someone is not with him now, he will also come along.
