The next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will feature a 10-team match. It is likely to start in Chennai from April 2. Home of IPL 2021 champion Chennai Super Kings. According to a report on the website, the fixtures have not been finalized but the BCCI has internally informed key stakeholders that the board is planning to start IPL 2022 in Chennai on April 2. Since the 15th edition of the T20 league will have 10 teams and a total of 74 matches, BCCI has internally discussed that the duration of the season will be more than 60 days. IPL returning to India this year

Notably, each team will have 14 league games, retaining the current format of seven home and away games. As Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions, Chepauk would be the obvious choice for the opening game, but there is no formal decision as to whether their opponents will be Mumbai Indians again, which has mostly been the case. Earlier, in his speech at CSK’s fourth IPL win celebrations, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had announced that the IPL will return to India after the full 2020 season and the 2021 half season are held in the UAE. This time two new teams are going to be added in IPL, Hyderabad and Lucknow.
