Fifa WC 2022: Argentina’s team announced for the World Cup, included in the forward team less than Brazil
Buenos Aires. Argentina will take nine defenders, seven midfielders and seven forwards for the World Cup in Qatar. Argentine coach Lionel Scaloni’s team is aiming to achieve their Copa America success. Scaloni announced a squad of 26 players with two forwards fewer than rivals Brazil.
Argentina won the Copa America in 2021, their first major trophy in 28 years. There are 21 players in the World Cup squad to play in the Copa America. Lionel Messi’s team has not faced defeat in the last 35 matches. Messi (35 years) will be playing in his fifth World Cup and in all likelihood it will be his last World Cup.
He is accompanied by other experienced strikers Angel Di Maria (34), defender Nicolas Otamendi (34) and goalkeeper Franco Armani (36). Argentina have also included forward Lautaro Martinez and midfielder Enzo Fernandez. Argentina will start their campaign in Qatar against Saudi Arabia on 22 November. Teams from Mexico and Poland are also included in Group C.
