Sen slips to 25th in BWF rankings

Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen dropped out of the world’s top 20 players in the latest BWF men’s singles rankings released on Tuesday. Sen slipped to 25th spot after his second round exit at the All England Championship. The 21-year-old had achieved his top ranking of No.6 in November last year. In the current season, he could not maintain his rhythm and made early exits from Malaysia Open, India Open and German Open. HS Prannoy continues to be the top-ranked Indian in the rankings at ninth while Kidambi Srikanth has moved up two places to enter the top-20.

In women’s singles, PV Sindhu remained static at ninth while Saina Nehwal, who withdrew from the All England Championships, dropped five places to be at 32nd. Men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty remained static at sixth, while women’s pair of Trisha Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand dropped a place to 18th position despite reaching the semi-finals at the All England last week.
