FIFA World Cup: After Neymar, now Croatia wants to shatter Messi’s dream

Al Khor. Croatia have already shattered Neymar’s dream of winning the World Cup and now their target is Lionel Messi who is engaged in the exercise of becoming the world champion for the first time. Last year’s runners-up Croatia will have to overcome a formidable wall of Argentina in the semi-finals on Tuesday to reach the final for the second time in a row. In this match, all eyes will be on Messi who is yet to win the World Cup trophy. While Messi will leave no stone unturned to keep his dream of winning the World Cup alive, Croatia, who lost the final to France in 2018, will be aiming to win the title this time.

Croatia defender Josip Juranovic said, “I don’t think we need to be afraid of any player. We just have to focus on playing our best game. He said, “The secret of our success is our unity. The truth is that we live like a family and play our game like that. ”Neymar broke down in tears after Croatia beat Brazil 4-2 on penalties in the quarter-finals. Messi played a key role in helping Argentina reach the semi-finals. He has scored four goals in five matches so far. The goal he set up for Nahuel Molina in the quarter-finals against the Netherlands was a wonderful example of his skill.

It looks as though Messi has taken it upon himself to guide Argentina to a third overall and first World Cup title since 1986. Argentina reached the final of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but lost 1–0 to Germany in a closely contested match. This was the only time that Messi came close to the World Cup title. Now he is only two wins away from becoming the world champion. Ahead of the semi-finals at the Lusail Stadium, Croatia appear to be calm and reluctant to reveal their strategy. Croatia striker Bruno Petkovic said, “We haven’t made a specific strategy for Lionel Messi yet.” Usually we focus on the whole team and not on one player.

He said, “With this attitude, we have to stop them by getting on the field. We have to avoid focusing on just one player. Argentina doesn’t just mean Messi.” Croatia’s strong arm in midfield is Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric. After defeating Brazil, Croatia coach Jalko Dalic described his midfield as the best in the world, denying Neymar chances for most of the match.
