Part of football stadium in Meghalaya that was inaugurated in December last year collapsed

Shillong. A portion of the PA Sangma Football Stadium collapsed in Meghalaya’s Tura. This stadium was inaugurated in December last year. The officers provided this information. He informed that this flagship stadium is a part of PA Sangma Sports Complex, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Konrad K Sangma and which was constructed at a cost of Rs 127 crore. According to officials, the incident took place on Thursday and there was no report of any casualty during this time.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, “PA Sangma SportsA portion of the wall surrounding the campus’s football stadium collapsed. The initial reason for the wall collapse is said to be damage caused by heavy rains in Tura and West Garo Hills region. The Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills has initiated an official inquiry into the matter.” A portion of the under-construction building of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly had collapsed in May last year. The 70-tonne dome of the Rs 177.7-crore building had collapsed, leading to a political uproar in the state ahead of the assembly elections.
