ICC rankings: Ashwin joint fourth, Iyer climbs 10 places

Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer, who were the architects of India’s victory in the second Test against Bangladesh in Mirpur, have moved up to fourth and 16th places respectively in the ICC rankings. Ashwin, who took six wickets in the match, has moved up one place to be joint fourth among bowlers with Jasprit Bumrah. He scored an unbeaten 42 in the second innings, with the help of which he climbed three places to reach 84th position in the batsmen’s rankings. Ashwin, the number one bowler and all-rounder in the past, has gained seven rating points in the rankings for all-rounders.

Ravindra Jadeja continues to top the rankings for all-rounders with 369 rating points while Ashwin has 343 ratings points. Iyer, who shared an unbroken 71-run partnership with Ashwin, reached a career-best 16th ranking. Despite being named Player of the Series, Cheteshwar Pujara dropped three places to 19th while Virat Kohli dropped two places to 14th. Among the batsmen, Rishabh Pant is at the sixth position, while Umesh Yadav is at the 33rd position among the bowlers. Bangladesh batsman Liton Das rose to a career-best 12th ranking while Mominul Haque is ranked 68th, Zakir Hasan 70th and Nurul Hasan 93rd. Spinners Taijul Islam and Mehdi Hasan Miraj have gained two places each to be at 28th and 29th positions.
