Former F1 racer Narain Karthikeyan told how motor sports can be better in India, gave important suggestions

Hyderabad. India’s first FOne driver Naren Karthikeyan believes that having Formula E race in Hyderabad will increase the popularity of motorsport in the country but a lot more needs to be done for its development. The last major motorsport event in India was in 2013 as the third Indian Grand Prix Formula One race. The fully electric Formula E championship race is taking place here this week, while a MotoGP race is due in September. Karthikeyan said, “The world championship race is being held in India after a decade. Despite being a new format, it is good for the sport in India and will increase the popularity of motorsport.

He said, “The race will be held in the city of Hyderabad, so it will get a lot of spectators. Being the first race, everyone would be eager to watch it. But onlookers watching from the side of the road will not be able to recognize a driver. Well, some big brands and manufacturers will definitely do something for promotion.” No driver from India is participating in this race but Mahindra Racing will definitely be seen in it. “The MotoGP race is also to be held in India and two world championships will bring all the attention to the sport,” said Karthikeyan. There is no dearth of talent in the country but motorsport needs infrastructure and financial support which has not been there for so many years.
