New Delhi. Newly-appointed Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey said on Sunday that ensuring operational preparedness of a very high standard to meet current, contemporary and future security challenges across the region would be his top and foremost priority. Gen Pandey also said that he wants to focus on ongoing reforms, restructuring and transformation efforts to enhance the operational and functional efficiency of the Army. General Pandey was talking to the media after being presented a ceremonial guard of honor on the lawns of South Block, a day after taking over as the Chief of Army Staff. He said the global geopolitical situation is changing rapidly, “resulting in many challenges before us”.
The Army Chief said, “My topmost and most important priority will be to ensure operational preparedness of very high standard to meet the current, contemporary and future security challenges across the region of the country.” He said that the Army would effectively deal with all possible security challenges facing the nation in coordination with the Indian Air Force and Navy.
General Pandey said, in the matter of modernization and capacity development of the Army, my effort will be to take advantage of new technology through indigenization. General Manoj Pandey took over as the 29th Chief of the Army Staff on Saturday after the retirement of General MM Naravane. Prior to this, he was the Deputy Chief of the Army Staff.
