IPL 2023: Good news for Sourav Ganguly’s fans, he will play a big role for Delhi Capitals

Only a few days are left for the IPL to start. All the teams are making their strategy. Amidst all this Delhi Capitals have taken a big decision. First, David Warner was given the captaincy in place of Rishabh Pant. The fans of Sourav Ganguly will be very happy with the news that came after this. Indeed, Delhi Capitals has confirmed the appointment of Sourav Ganguly as their Director of Cricket. The former India captain and former BCCI president will be in charge of all verticals of the Capitals franchise, including the Women’s Premier League team, Pretoria Capitals in SA20 and Dubai Capitals in ILT20.

 

However, Sourav Ganguly had already started working with the franchise during the ongoing first season of SA20 and Women’s Premier League. Delhi Capitals are well placed to reach the play-offs in the Women’s Premier League. Notably, Ganguly had served as the mentor of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019. During this, he worked with head coach Ricky Ponting. Speaking about the appointment, Sourav Ganguly said that he is excited to return to Delhi Capitals and has already gained work experience during his stint with DC SA20 in Pretoria in the WPL.

 

Ganguly said that Delhi Capitals had done well as a team during my previous tenure. Hope we all have a great time in the next few months. The Delhi Capitals team will start their campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on April 1. Let us tell you that Pant, the regular captain of the team, is recovering from a serious injury sustained in the car accident and he will not be able to return to the team in the upcoming season starting from March 31. David Warner was appointed captain in the absence of Rishabh Pant. Pant was leading this team from 2021. All-rounder Axar Patel will be the vice-captain of the Delhi team. He had performed this responsibility in the last season as well.
