Glenn Maxwell ready to return after recovering from injury

Melbourne. Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is set to make a comeback after recovering from a foot injury and could play in a Sheffield Shield match after being assessed his fitness in a club cricket match. Maxwell fractured his left leg at a friend’s birthday party, days after Australia’s early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup in November. The 34-year-old limited-overs specialist Maxwell is set to return to competitive cricket this weekend after a gap of three months. He is set to play for Victoria in Sheffield Shield match against South Australia.

Maxwell will play for club team Fitzroy-Doncaster on Saturday before undergoing a fitness test. After passing the fitness test, he will play in the Shield match against South Australia at the Junction Oval on Monday. David Hussey, Cricket Victoria’s head of men’s cricket, told cricket.com.au: “It is exciting to have a player of Glenn’s caliber join the team. He has a great record in Shield cricket.
