Gowers hat-trick in the second match of hockey, Australia defeated India 7-4

Black Gowers continued his impressive run with a hat-trick as Australia thrashed India 7-4 in the second match of the five-match hockey series here on Sunday. Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh got the team off to a good start by converting a penalty in the third minute itself. The Indians’ happiness, however, was short-lived as Govers and Jack Welch started scoring goals from the Australian side.

Gowers scored the winning goal in Australia’s 5-4 win in the first match on Saturday and once again disappointed the Indians. He scored in the 12th, 27th and 53rd minutes, while Welch scored in the 17th and 24th minutes to thrash the Indians. Jake Wetton (48th) and Jacob Anderson (49th) were the other goal scorers for Australia. This is Australia’s 12th consecutive win against India. Hardik Singh (25th) and Mohammad Raheel (penalty, 36th) scored the other two goals for India, while Harmanpreet narrowed the margin of defeat by netting her second goal in the last minute (60th) of the match. The third match of the series will be played on Wednesday.
