Green rubbishes rumors of IPL unavailability

Young Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has dismissed speculation that he might miss the opening phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as rumours, saying he will be “100 per cent available” to bat and bowl for his franchise Mumbai Indians. Some media reports said that Green has fractured his finger after being hit by Enrich Norkia’s bouncer during the second Test against South Africa and he will be able to bowl in IPL 2023 only after April. This 23-year-old player has been added to the team by Mumbai Indians for 17.50 crores.

He is the second most expensive player in IPL history. Terming his unavailability for IPL as a rumour, he said, “I don’t know where it started.” Green told ‘SEN’, ‘No, it is not right. I think, I have been hearing about it for a long time. I don’t know where it started. I am 100 per cent available for both skills (bowling and batting) from the start in the IPL.

Green and fast bowler Mitchell Starc are both missing the ongoing third and final Test against South Africa at the Sydney Cricket Ground due to finger injuries. Doctors have recommended surgery for Green. He is expected to be fit before the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting on February 9. Green said he is eyeing the first Test in India. Green said, “Obviously my first priority is the Test series which is first (before the IPL).
