ICC Player of the Month award for Butler and Amin

England’s T20 World Cup-winning captain Jos Buttler was on Monday selected for the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) player of the month award for the first time since his impressive performance in November. Pakistan’s Sidra Amin won the women’s cricketer of the month award for her outstanding performance in the ODI series against Ireland. One of the most dangerous batsmen in world cricket, Buttler won the player of the match award earlier this month in a dramatic 20-run win against New Zealand in Brisbane.

He laid a brilliant foundation for England’s T20 World Cup campaign by scoring 73 off 47 balls. After England reached the knockouts, Butler scored an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls to give his team a 10-wicket win against India. He made a useful contribution of 26 runs in the final against Pakistan. England won the T20 World Cup for the second time by defeating Pakistan.

Butler said, “I would like to thank the fans who voted for me as the ICC Player of the Month for November.I got this award because of the efforts of my team mates. It was an incredible month for us where we won the Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Amin was rewarded for her stellar performance in the women’s ODI series against Ireland in November. She scored 277 runs in this series and was dismissed only once. Amin scored an unbeaten 176 in the first match and played a key role in helping his team win by 128 runs. He scored an unbeaten 91 off 93 balls in the second match to give the team a nine-wicket win.
